This was a quick test of using large scale scenes in 3ds Max. I wanted to set up the solar system in using real measurements.

Some complications with this approach were:

  • Poor viewport rendering (heavy z-fighting)
  • Slow viewport navigation (zooming with ctrl+alt+mmb was unresponsive)
  • Rendering bugs in VRay (blocky shadows, strange triangulation, etc.)
