A new addition to Willab’s online guides is Glaspartiguiden, created by Animech. It helps you find the optimal patio door or window wall for your needs. You can then customize its size, colors, opening type, and more. We also added animations, to help visualize how the doors operate.

One unique challenge to this project was supporting custom measurements for window walls. The user can enter different heights for the left and right sides separately, and in arbitrary sizes. We solved this by creating a script that extracts data from a 3ds max spline, and outputs them as .json files. The spline data is read by the configurator, which then extrudes it, in runtime, along a spline. This gives artists the ability to control the look of the profile, while the configurator handles the logic.

On this project, I mostly had a supervising role. I set up the structure and workflow for 3D assets. I made a couple of the patio doors, window animations, and fixed lots of small details. You can try Glaspartiguiden over at Willab’s website.
