I felt like I could practice making some organic models, so I decided to create a beetle. In order to challenge myself even further, I wanted it to be beautifully iridescent. After some research I decided on a type of Jewel Beetle — the Chrysochroa Fulminans.

I modeled and animated the scene in 3ds Max, and textured it in Substance Painter. I made the realtime viewer using Playcanvas, Javascript, and some GLSL for the iridescent shader.
